ADAS are conducting a quick scoping project for Defra and have three separate questions to address:
- In lowland peat used for arable agriculture and horticulture, what is the potential threshold for raising the water table without reducing crop yields for different crops?
- In lowland peat used for pasture, what is the potential threshold for raising the water table without reducing livestock production and welfare? How does this differ by livestock type?
- What mitigation measures exist or could be developed to allow raising the water table without negative impacts on yield and welfare?
This notice is for two workshops, one focused on crops and the other on livestock and grassland. By registering, we will send you the links for both workshops; you are welcome to attend one or both, depending on your areas of interest and expertise.
If you have any quick thoughts on these questions, then please get in touch via islam.abdel-aziz@adas.co.uk
Please express your interest in attending these workshops and the links will be sent to you by email.
