Event Date
Agri-tech week

This face to face workshop at ADAS Postharvest Innovation Centre in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, will showcase advances in storage technologies and supply chain management to reduce post-harvest losses.

Each year, 1.3 billion metric tons of food is produced for human consumption across the world. However, one third of this food never reaches the consumer’s plate. In developing countries, postharvest food loss can be particularly acute (>50%). In developed countries with “cool chains” losses are lower, but typically still equate to 4-8% of production. However, cooling on its own cannot eliminate post-harvest food loss. This workshop will showcase advances in storage technologies and supply chain management in horticultural supply chains to reduce postharvest losses.

We can accommodate a limited number of people on a tour of the Suncrop pack house at 12:00 pm before the meeting starts. Tours are subject to confirmation by Suncrop. If you would like to join a tour please register your interest by emailing Hassan.Bagheri@adas.co.uk
